In a momentous occasion for Solomon Islands football, eight referees proudly received their FIFA accreditation for the year 2024 in a ceremony held last Friday.

The group comprises 2 center referees, 3 assistant referees, 2 futsal referees, and a beach soccer referee, marking a significant step.

The list of referees, as presented by FIFA, includes a historic milestone with the country's first female center referee, Shama Mamae, formally receiving her FIFA accreditation for the first time.

This achievement reflects the growing inclusivity and recognition of female officials in the sport.

During the badge presentation ceremony, Solomon Islands Football Federation's Referee Development Officer (RDO), Hamilton Siau, extended warm congratulations to the accomplished referees. Siau emphasized that the accredited officials are now qualified to officiate at FIFA international events, a testament to their dedication and expertise. He also highlighted that each referee is entitled to display their respective badges throughout the year, in accordance with their official categories.

This achievement not only showcases the talent and competence of the referees but also underscores the commitment of the Solomon Islands to elevate its standing in international football officiating.

The accreditation of the referees opens doors for them to contribute to the global football community and participate in high-profile tournaments under the FIFA banner.
