Martial arts is back in action and gaining recognition by governing sports body in the Solomons.

It was confirmed that the Solomon Islands Karate Federation (SIKF) has paid up their annual subscription to the National Olympic Committee of Solomon Islands and the National Sport Council of Solomon Islands early this month.

This gives the martial arts umbrella body recognition as an existing sports federation governed by the responsible sporting bodies, NOCSI and NSCSI.

Solomon Times was informed that the federation had revived last year but remained inactive.

Meanwhile, the SIKF is an "open style federation" that is not confined to just karate but also to other martial arts like taewando, kung fu, judo among others.

Interested members are encouraged to pay up fees to be part of the federation and build on their martial arts skills with other members.
