Ranger football club moves up to sixth place in the Honiara Football Association (HFA) premier division table after beating Laugu by 2-0 in a midweek game played at Lawson Tama.

Rangers looked the better side from kick off with its players keeping control of the ball from kick-off.

Rangers' strikers were able to find holes in the Laugu defense with their quick one-two play. Laugu defenders were kept busy all afternoon defending the western end of Lawson Tama.

Godwin Bebeu scored Rangers first goal from general play, using his pace to outrun the defenders and easily beating the keeper. The goal increased the tempo of the game for both sides, Rangers held on to go into the break leading by one.
In the Second half, Rangers were more determined to putting the Laugu defenders under pressure.

Midway in the second half Laugu and an excellent opportunity to score, but desperate defending denied Laugu any hope of a come back.

Rangers put the game beyond doubt with a superb second goal from a well taken free kick. With that goal, Laugu now has very little hope of making the top eight.

Rangers now are on 13 points, which now puts them at the sixth position on the table and a chance to play in the top eight challenge.
