The Governor General, Sir Nathaniel Waena, has called for a free and fair review of the operations of the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Island, RAMSI.

Speaking during the Queen's Birthday celebrations, Sir Nathaniel said a free and fair review process is the only way to advance good partnership for the restoration and sustenance of good governance in the country.

Sir Nathaniel also stated that the review process should not interfere with the sovereignty of Solomon Islands as an independent democratic nation.

"I sincerely hoped that Her Majesty's government of Solomon Islands would be granted due democratic regard by the governments of the region to allow our national government to freely exercise its legitimate democratic mandate to govern the sovereign affairs of Solomon Islands. The review is but a part."

The partnership between the Solomon Islands Government and RAMSI is now entering the construction and development stages covering the restoration of the national economy and social services.
