The unbeatable Noro volleyball team of the Western Province walked out of the court with heads up high.

Last night's final between the women's volleyball Nura 1 and Luvangatu teams was won by defending champions, Nura 1 who walked out winners for the third time.

The high spirited middle aged team beat the much younger combination of young girls for Honiara select's Luvangatu team.

A packed Multi-purpose Hall rounded support for the two teams as they battle with the ball and net for the top position.

In the first set of the game, the Luvangatu team came out strong leading ahead of the provincial side.

But strong spiking from Nura 1's team captain placed the provincial side on the lead in the second set of the game.

Luvangatu came back in the third set with strong blocks and receiving of balls but could not match up with Nura 1's strong defense.

However, team effort saw the Honiara select taking over in the fourth set with two points lead.

A powerful comeback had the packed stadium chanting cheers for the provincial side as they fought back in the final set, which saw them wining Luvangatu team by a game ball of 24 points to 21 in favour of Nura 1.

Meanwhile, the men's final saw a strong match between two tams from Gizo.

Last year's champions, the Timabanua 1 fought hard but could not keep up with the Timabanua 2 team who claimed the cup away in what is said to be their first.
