Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare will lead a Government delegation tomorrow on a five-day tour of the disaster stricken areas of Western and Choiseul provinces.

The delegation will be made up mostly of Cabinet members including the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Sogavare had earlier said his government was concerned about the state of welfare of the people affected by the disaster which brought suffering to thousands of people in the affected areas of two provinces.

Mr Sogavare says his government was doing all it can to address peoples suffering.

He says the involvement of Government Ministers in the tour of the disaster areas was to show government's seriousness to address the situation.

Cabinet had already approved five million dollars towards the cost of relief operations to the victims.

Government says it was calling an emergency meeting of parliament to approve an Appropriation Bill to legalise the spending of the amount.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister says Government was very pleased with the overwhelming response by the international and local communities in helping those displaced and affected by the disaster.
