Solomon Islands Prime Minister, Dr. Derek Sikua, has received a condolence message from the Prime Minister of Samoa, Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, after the tragic and untimely death of a young nurse.

The young 26 year old trainee nurse, was killed last Friday night in a traffic accident involving a vehicle driven by a Samoan police officer serving with RAMSI.

A statement from the Prime Minister's Office in Honiara said that the condolence message from the Samoan Prime Minister and his Government is for the Government of Solomon Islands and the family of the deceased.

"Words are not enough to convey the depth of our regret and sorrow that an officer from Samoa sent to Honiara as part of our contribution to help has instead caused the terrible anguish to your people and Government," the Samoan Prime Minister said in the statement. .

The Samoan Prime Minister has requested the Solomon Islands Prime Minister to convey his Government's deepest apology and condolence to the family and relatives over the tragic loss of their daughter.

Prime Minister Sikua has acknowledged the condolence message from the Prime Minister of Samoa and will in turn convey the message to the family of the deceased.
