Solomon Islands Police Force acted fast in peacefully settling a dispute between landowning groups and a logging company.

The Solomon Islands' National Express reported that police, on Thursday, attended to a report that a group of landowners took away equipment from a logging camp in an area between Bonege and Aruligo on West Guadalcanal.

Police were informed that removal of equipment was a result of a land dispute between three separate landowning groups, all claiming ownership over land where the logging operation is being carried out.

The logging operators reported the case to the police, who subsequently went down to the area and, following discussions with the disputing parties, managed to resolve the dispute peacefully and the equipment returned.

The National Express was unable to get further details from police on how exactly the dispute was resolved, whether or not money was involved in the matter.
