The Solomon Islands Acting Commissioner of Police, Walter Kola says the Police have resolved issues with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission over the arrest of former Black Shark militant, Samson Leketo.

Leketo was arrested whilst at a closed hearing for Black Shark militants in Taro, Choiseul Province earlier this month.

The arrest was criticised by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) with Commissioner Caroline Laore saying that the police had taken advantage of the Commission's work and had caused the public to lose confidence in the Commission.

While speaking to local media yesterday, Acting Commissioner Kola says the Police have resolved issues with the TRC and the Director of Public Prosecutions. The parties have reached an understanding that their different duties will come into conflict with each other at certain times.

Meanwhile, the Acting Police Commissioner Kola has maintained that his directive to officers to make the arrest was proper and he would welcome any investigation into the matter.
