Police Makes Arrest over Noro Incident

Western provincial police have arrested a 30-year-old male following the death of a 25-year-old female at Noro back road over the weekend.

Police alleged the deceased was returning home from a night club in a taxi with three of her friends with the suspect and were safely dropped off some 100 meters from her destination.

The deceased was left alone with the suspect as two of her friends left home in a different direction at around 5 am on Sunday.

Police were alerted of the dead body by children about 100 meters where she was first dropped.

Police media unit confirms investigations quickly led to an arrest of the suspect this morning at his work area at Noro timber yard.

He is being kept in custody awaiting police investigation, as three people have come forward as eye witnesses to the matter.

The body has since been flown over to Honiara for post-mortem following consultation with family members.

Western province police are calling on members of the public particularly those living around the crime scene area, to come forward and assist police investigations.
