Police Lay Charge over Fatal Stabbing

The Royal Solomon Islands Police have formally charged a 22-year old man following the fatal stabbing last Saturday.

The man said to be from North Malaita is currently being remanded in police custody. The police media office confirms that police are continuing with their investigation into the stabbing incident.

It says the post mortem examination was conducted by medical authorities on the body and police are now waiting for the pathological report to assist detectives with their investigation.

Police investigators have already spoken to a number of witnesses and have really appreciated the support that has been offered by members of the public.

However, police say they are also seeking and looking forward to speak with more people and are also investigating the burning of houses at Koa Hill.

A statement says police would also like to hear from anyone who may have been at the vicinity and may have seen or heard anything relating to the incident.
