Henderson police are investigating the robbery of a taxi driver.

Police reported that three men hired the taxi at Central Main Market between 2:30 and 3:00pm on Monday 26 November.

The trio reportedly asked the driver to transport them to Henderson area and upon arrival at the old crusher area near Henderson Airport, the men produced a knife and assaulted and robbed the driver.

It was reported that the men escaped in the Toyota Corolla Taxi Wagon, and crashed the car.

Police later found the vehicle abandoned near the Taj Mahal Road junction just east of the Lungga Bridge.

Witnesses have described the suspects as of Melanesian appearance, aged between 15 and 20 years of age.

One offender is described as Solomon Islander, tall, slim build with fair skin and fair hair.

It was reported that at the time of the offence, he had light coloured beard and was wearing a dark T shirt and jeans. The other offender wore a scarf on his head.

Police are appealing to the public for any information they may have in relation to the incident.
