Police have launched an investigation and are speaking to residents of the Tasahe 'B' community near White River after the discovery of a dead body at an abandoned house yesterday afternoon.

RSIPF officers who initially attended the scene confirmed that the body has already started to decompose so Forensic officers were called to assist with the investigation.

Police Forensic officers conducted a preliminary examination on the dead body before it was taken down to the National Referral Hospital. Medical staff at the National Referral Hospital is expected to carry out a thorough autopsy of the dead body today.

Police have launched an investigation in to the incident and have already spoken to several residents of the Tasahe 'B' community.

The investigation is still in its early stages and police are not ruling out foul play.

Detectives from the RSIPF National Criminal Investigation Department are currently following possible leads and gathering information that would hopefully assist them in identifying the deceased.
