The newly appointed Solomon Islands Police Commissioner will be sworn-in today.
The swearing in ceremony will be held at the Government House and will be attended by a few Government dignitaries and Senior Police Officers.

The new Police Commissioner, Jahir Khan, was the former Fiji Assistant Commissioner Operations. The post was first offered to acting Fiji Police Commissioner Romanu Tikotikoca who turned it down to take up the post in Fiji.

The Office of the Police Commissioner was left vacant after the former Police Commissioner, Shane Castle, was refused entry by the Government after taking a short vacation abroad. The Government has accused Mr Castle of interfering in investigations of highly sensitive cases. Mr Castle denies the allegations.
