The Solomon Islands government is again advertising the role of Commissioner of Police in the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force.

The post is being re-advertised after Government House rejected the appointment of Peter Aoraunisaka because he was over the retirement age of 55 years.

The government had chosen him five months ago.

Since the rejection of Mr Aoraunisaka, 44 year old Juanita Matanga, an inspector, has been acting police commissioner.

Recognising Mr Aoraunisaka's rejection, the government now wants applicants to be below 55 years old when applying.

Under new guidelines the successful applicant will retire at the age of 55 years.
