Police Charge Men for Attempted Murder

Honiara City detectives have arrested and charged a 22 year old man in relation to a knife attack at one of the jetties at the Point Cruz wharves on Saturday afternoon (30 September 2007).

The fight happened shortly after 4 pm when two groups of people had a disagreement that escalated into a fight in which knives were used. Three men were later arrested.

Samofeo Samani 22, from Niu Valley village in East Kwara'ae, Malaita Province and two other men have been charged with attempted murder, unlawful wounding, assault causing actual bodily harm and affray.

All three men appeared in Honiara Magistrates Court yesterday (1 October 2007) where they were remanded in custody to appear in court again on a later date.

Atoifi Detective Sergeant Willie Foufaka has been flown to Honiara to assist Honiara Detectives with the enquiry and follow up back log of cases allegedly relating to the same person.

Sergeant Foufaka confirmed that the suspect is wanted on warrants in Atoifi dating back to 2005.
