The RSIPF Sexual Assault unit is appealing to the public for eyewitnesses, to the alleged rape of a 19 year old student near the Chinatown Bridge around 7pm on Friday.

It is alleged that three men wearing hoods used knives to threaten the girl while they dragged her from the bridge down to a mango tree nearby, and sexually assaulted her.

The victim was heard crying by a passerby who came to her assistance and took her home.

Head of the Sexual Assault Unit, Dept: Director Ms. Florence Taro said that this assault was very serious and the suspect had no respect whatsoever for the victim.

The girl was wearing white trousers, a plain red t-shirt with "adidas" printed on the front with striped blue pants and a black pair of slippers.

Inspector Florence Taro today appealed to the man who kindly brought the girl home to call Police.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or has any other information that may lead to the arrest of the rapists is urged to call Police on 21383 or 23304.
