Permanent Secretary for the Solomon Islands Ministry of Forestry, Jeffrey Wickham says the Poitete School of Natural Resources in Western Province will reopen in 2013.

This was revealed during a brief meeting with the Supervising Minister of Forestry and representatives of the Western Provincial Government.

Mr. Wickham says the reopening of the school coincides with the government's intention to prioritise its reforestation development plans in anticipating down-scaling of logging activities in the future.

Poitete school of Natural Resources will also upgrade its certificate level programme to a Diploma level.

He says the reopening is in line with the Ministry's intentions to revive its training institutions that were closed due to the social unrest.

The Permanent Secretary and other Ministry officials are part of the visiting delegation led by the Supervising Minister of Forestry, Alex Lionel on a three-day visit to the major reforestation plantations in the Western Province.
