Prime Minister Dr Derek Sikua has arrived in Temotu on Sunday as the chief guest to officially open the 2nd Annual Premiers Conference in Lata.

Dr Sikua led a high profile national government delegation including the Minister for Provincial Government Hon David Day Pacha, Minister for Home Affairs Hon James Tora and Minister for Infrastructure Development Hon Stanley Sofu.

The Prime Minister's party arrived to a special traditional Temotu welcome by various groups representing the ethnic composition of the province where he was met at the airport by Temotu Premier John Levela and leaders of Temotu province.

The visit is Dr Sikua's first ever to Temotu province.

Dr Sikua was overwhelmed by the hospitality of Temotu province and thanked the Premier and his people at Lata airport before being escorted by dynamic traditional dancers to a resort where he was accommodated together with the Premiers.

The Prime Minister will spend two days in Lata for the official opening of the conference on Monday 15 before returning to Honiara on Tuesday 16.

The conference will run for a week at Luelta Resort.

The theme for this year's conference is "Common Vision for Common Destiny.

Rennell and Bellona Province hosted last year's Premiers Conference at Kia Koe Resort at the World Heritage Lake Tegano in East Rennell.
