PM Philip Congratulates Taiwan

Prime Minister Danny Philip has congratulated President Ma Ying-Jeaou on the occasion of Taiwan's National Anniversary celebrations in Taipei, on behalf of the Government and People of Solomon Islands yesterday.

Prime Minister Philip and his delegation joined hundreds of foreign leaders and dignitaries to view a spectacular National Day parade staged in front of the Presidential Office.

The ROC Centennial National Day celebrations continue today during which President Ma will be hosting a State Banquet for visiting dignitaries.

Tomorrow, the Prime Minister will visit the Kaoshiung Medical University in South Taiwan.

Earlier during the week, he paid a courtesy call on President Ma during which both leaders reflected on the ongoing bilateral relations and cooperation between Taiwan and Solomon Islands.

The cooperation between the two countries covers a number of sectors including health, education, rural development, agriculture and renewable energy development.

Both leaders renewed their commitment to further enhance and strengthen the relations between their two countries.

The Prime Minister also met with about 40 Solomon Islands students studying at various universities in Taiwan under the ROC Scholarship scheme.
