PM Happy With Public Support for TRC

Prime Minister Dr Derek Sikua says that he is pleased with the public support and progress made by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, TRC.

Dr Sikua says that following the landmark public hearings into sufferings endured during the ethnic violence that gripped the country for five years.

Dr Sikua joined other senior statesmen on the first day of the hearings on Tuesday to listen to testimonies of the pain that victims have endured during the violent years from 1998 to 2003.

Since becoming Prime Minister in December 2007, one of Dr Sikua's main priorities was to pursue meaningful reconciliation between people at all levels of society which is anticipated to lead to national healing.
