Flood victims are called on to "be patient" as responsible authorities work on distributing relief supplies to them.

This call follows complaints from people of North-West Guadalcanal who claim they are not satisfied with how Guadalcanal Province is conducting its relief response.

But the Guadalcanal Province Disaster Office said these people are misunderstanding the process of delivery of relief supplies.

"We are prioritizing the worst disaster stricken areas and there are many not fully affected during the flood," a worker within the office explained to Solomon Times.

The worker said the office is trying as much as they can to balance the relief supplies that are being sent.

Solomon Times was informed that supplies are sent according to reports reaching the office from assessment teams.

It was revealed that reports are yet to be received from the team dispatched to North-West Guadalcanal.

"We are waiting on the reports from our assessment team and as soon as we receive their report, we will be reporting to the National Disaster Council for further assessment and later for Cabinet approval before supplies are given out."

The source what is currently being distributed are relief supplies and not the whole lot, stressing on the need for people to understand.

"Donations are being given to us from companies and international aid donors and we do not want things to go too political just because of some misunderstanding," the source said.
