The Parliamentary House Committee has confirmed that it will commence its inquiry into the entitlement of 50,000 Terminal Grant, provided to parliamentarians spouses, passed recently by the Parliamentary Entitlements Commission, PEC.

The grant will be provided to parliamentarians spouses under the new Parliamentary Entitlements Regulation 2009.

The Committee will hold public hearings starting today and ending Monday next week.

The issue of the terminal grant has been a topic of debate in the media since the Parliamentary Entitlements Commission released the recent Parliamentary Entitlements Regulation for 2009.

The matter has also been taken up in the High Court by the Attorney General's Chambers.

The Committee will undertake a total of three hearings and will hear from key witnesses from the Public Service and private sector.

The public are encouraged to attend the hearings which will be held at the National Parliament Conference room at Vavaya Ridge.

The first hearing will be tomorrow, the second on Friday and the third on Monday next week.

Hearings will also be broadcast live on SIBC and recorded by One News Television.
