The current meeting of Parliament will go into recess on the second week of August and is expected to resume in late September.

Special Secretary to the Prime Minister John Keniapasia says of the 14 bills which government hopes to table in the current meeting, only six have already been passed by Parliament.

He says eight bills are yet to be tabled and taken through the due Parliamentary process.

Mr Keniapasia says among the remaining eight bills are the proposed Political Party Integrity Bill and a supporting Constitutional Amendment Bill.

He says further public awareness and consultation on the two bills is expected to take place within the time Parliament goes into recess.

This would be the second time a meeting of Parliament has taken an extended break.
