A senior member of Our Telekom delivered a mobile phone to the National Disaster Management Office yesterday as its support to the ongoing emergency caused by the floods on northwest and northeast Guadalcanal.
Christina Lasaga said the donation is part of the company's ongoing communication support to the NDMO.She said Our Telekom hopes that this support will go some way into easing communication links between the assessment teams on the field and the NDMO.
Accepting the donation, NDMO Director Loti Yates said he is very happy about the donation.
"This is certainly timely because communication between those on the field and us in the office is crucial given that the situation is still volatile," he said.
Mr. Yates also said he has given the mobile to Guadalcanal Provincial Disaster
Coordinator Herrick Savusi, the team leader of the assessment process to use and then hand it back to the NDMO to keep for such needs in the future.
