The Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) Small Sided Games Office has announced a coaching course for Futsal this week.

SIFF Small Sided Games Development Officer, Victor Waiia, made the announcement after confirmation from the 'Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Win In Oceania Futsal' Project Manager, Scott Gilligan was received last week.

"This will be an OFC level Futsal coaching course and Scott Gilligan himself will travel over to run the program," Waiia said. "This should be another important step forward for developing Futsal in the country."

The actual starting date will be confirmed pending further information from OFC. However, Waiia said that it is very likely that the course will follow the National Futsal Championship at the end of this month.

Waiia explained that the course is aimed at coaches who managed clubs in the SIFF Honiara Men's Open Futsal League in 2009. Other coaches involved with clubs or teams that are active are also invited to register for the course.

A registration fee of $20-00 is to be paid by each participant. Registration forms will be available from the SIFF Office from Tuesday 23rd March, 2010.

Gilligan will also assist the National Futsal Team when he is here with selection of new players. Gilligan was also in Solomon Islands in early 2009 running 2 coaching courses for Honiara based coaches. More than sixty (60) coaches graduated from these first 2 courses.

This will be the second Futsal course held in 2010. The first one was a Basic Futsal Refereeing Course held in February. Forty-four (44) participants graduated from the refereeing course.
