Police have arrested owner of the popular Kauvare nightclub at Kakabona, west Honiara for defying police orders to close the club.

Police had, last Monday, announced the closure of Kauvare and Lungga sisi dance spot as both were linked to social problems.

But Kauvare was back into operation two days later, with owner, Charles Chinivi, saying police had no right to close his business.

This resulted in his arrest and was yesterday charged at the Magistrate Court with two counts of offense, selling liquor without license and intimidation.

Mr. Chinivi was bailed and will re-appear at the Magistrate Court on January 9th 2009.

Acting Deputy Commissioner Operations, Peter Aoranisaka warned other clubs that police will focus on nightspots as part of their operations.
