A legislative framework requiring all non-government organizations and members of the civil society to be accountable was proposed in parliament.

Prime Minister, Manasseh Sogavare, made the announcement when tabling the motion to end the current Parliament session.

Mr. Sogavare, in proposing the government intention, questioned the accountability status of the group who "demanded transparency on government actions and decisions".

He adds that the civil society group's attempt to petition the government to reverse the appointment of the Attorney General and the Commissioner of Police was "ridiculous".

Prime Minister Sogavare described claims by the group that it represented the nation as "a joke", stating they only represent themselves.
