The Solomon Islands Government has announced its plans to establish a Canadian Education Campus to provide Solomon Islanders with qualifications to work in Canada and in other countries.

It has been revealed that Canada is currently short of labour, particularly in the construction sector, and are seeking people outside of Canada to work in their country.

The Foreign Affairs Minister, Peter Shanel and Education Minister, Dick Ha'amori had signed an agreement with Canada to establish a 'Canada Knowledge House' Programme in Solomon Islands earlier this year.

The programme will be coordinated by the Coordination International Training and Education Corporation- CITREC based in Canada and will provide training for both International students and local students in the country.

Speaking during a press conference yesterday, the Foreign Affairs Minister, Peter Shanel stated that the Programme will provide Solomon Islanders qualifications to work in Canada and other countries.
