Matangiki defeated a very determined SOSA side twenty seven to twelve in a well balanced rugby match at the Panatina oval.

In slippery and wet conditions the game was marred by countless ball handling errors from both teams. "Our side made some very costly mistakes very close to our try line" the captain of SOSA said. "It costed us dearly"

Matangiki came up with a try about ten minutes into the first half. The fast Matangiki backline managed to out maneuver SOSAs defense to score the try.

SOSA replied almost immediately from a huge drive from their forward pack to score below the post.

From then on it became a kicking game, both sides opted to kick and chase. This proved to be more damaging for the big forwards of SOSA. "Our forwards are small compared to SOSA, it worked out well for us when they opted to play kick and chase rugby" the Matangiki coach stated. "They were tiring and it weakened their defense"
Matangiki pounced on some unforced errors with a try just before half time.

The game opened up in the second half with SOSA scoring another impressive try from their forward pack. From then on the game became quite physical with the forwards taking on each other.

Matangiki scored a try from their backline to take the game beyond reach. A penalty try was awarded late in the game to seal the win for Matangiki.
