An elderly man was viciously attacked with bush knives and murdered at a plantation camp near Sifola in the Russell Islands.
The man died from loss of blood after suffering several severe wounds to his shoulder and neck. The deceased's wife is also under medical observation with lacerations to the scalp and neck.While the motive to the attack and killing is not yet clear, Yandina Police are working closely with counterparts in Honiara to solve the case.
The prime suspect, in his early 20's, was transported by Police from Yandina to Honiara with a severe cut above his foot. However, in a major setback to the investigations, Honiara Police have confirmed that the man who may have been responsible for the murder and attack, was pronounced dead early this morning.
Police are also looking for a 28 year old man who may be able to provide assistance in the investigations.
