Police have arrested a man in his 30's after he stabbed his brother to death during an argument yesterday evening at their home village at Tamagulu, East Tasiboko, North East Guadalcanal.

The argument was said to have started when the suspect, who turned up drunk at their family home, confronted his brother (deceased) over a decision he made regarding a bride price that was paid out recently.

Witnesses say that the argument turned into a fight that resulted in a horrific stabbing, the suspect was said to have used a 30cm length sea knife to stab his brother in the chest.

Witnesses went on to say relatives of the deceased then attacked the suspect who was later found lying with serious injuries to his forehead and ribs.

By then the deceased had already been taken down to the Good Samaritan medical centre at Tetere where, despite Doctors best efforts, he died. The suspect was also brought down to the National Referral Hospital for medical treatment.

Guadalcanal Provincial Police Commander; Chief Superintendent George Guna urged relatives or friends of the deceased to assist Police with its investigation instead of attempting retaliation.

Chief Superintendent Guna said that the matter is in the hands of Police and investigation will continue.
