The Solomon Islands Malaita Premier Edwin Suibaea stated that the decision to sack the former Deputy Premier of the Province has been described as timely and a step in the right direction.

The current Premier was replying to the allegations by the sacked Deputy, William Miti that the premier and his executive had lost credibility to lead a big province such as Malaita and if the province was to move forward, the present administration must be changed.

Mr Suibaea says the sacked deputy premier should have been aware that the province needs a strong executive government and the sacking was part of strengthening his executive.

He says for the past nine months his government has achieved a lot of things, and the Deputy himself was not aware of these.
