Makuru Football Club will keep the DJ League's Premier Division trophy after winning the award for the third time on Saturday.

Makuru was declared the division's top club for the 2008-09 DJ League competition, making it their third time to receive the award since the DJ League's inception in 2006.

Speaking during the 2008-09 DJ League presentation night on Saturday, The Honiara Football Association's (HFA) president, Robert Gerea, said he was glad to be part of the event which he said marked the successful completion of the 2008-09 DJ League competition.

He said the gathering was an important event which awarded teams for their efforts during last year's DJ League and brought all teams together to celebrate the teams' achievements.

Mr Gerea also reserved special praises for Makuru which he said had made local football history by winning the coveted premier DJ League title for the third consecutive time.

The football president also praised all other clubs who won achievements during the night and challenged other teams to perform better in future DJ League competitions.
