Hon. Lilo and his Deputy Manasseh Maelanga last week told local media that the claims made against him were false and outrageous.Prime Minister Lilo says at no time did he make any commitment with inmates to have them released as falsely claimed in the Island Sun newspaper by a group of Malaitans and signed by inmate Malcolm Lake.Instead, the prime minister said it was Lake and some in-mates who have written to the Government a few times seeking parole and their letters have been received by the Government.Mr Lilo says he has never agreed to parole or pardon anyone because he does not have the power to do so.Deputy Prime Minister, Hon. Maelanga stated that there are processes to follow and there are no special treatments to any particular prisoner. There is an independent body that deals with the paroling or pardoning of in-mates.
