The Solomon Islands Police Force is currently working on the development of leadership within the police force.

Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Police, Edmund Sikua who recently returned from a visit to Australia and Tonga revealed this to local media at a press conference this morning.

Mr. Sikua along with the Deputy Commissioner, Walter Kola attended a leadership course held in Tonga.

He said that the police force was trying to make such training for the officers since 2005 in four different levels.

He said that the aim of conducting the courses is to increase good leadership within the country's police force.

Mr. Sikua added that the courses covered in the Tongan meet basically focused on the four levels of leadership including contemporary leadership.

Participants to the meet learnt how to best attract the public to understand the roles of police in the country.

Local officers undertake courses in the country in preparation for workshops or meetings as such abroad, Mr. Sikua said.

The Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Police said that the courses will lead to success in leadership in the Solomon Islands.
