Honiara Lawyer Charles Ashley may loose his legal licence after being referred to a disciplinary committee by the Solomon Islands Honourable Chief Justice.

Sources close to the disciplinary Committee said that the case against Ashley is very serious and he might loose his license to practice law.

The disciplinary committee hearing follows an order by the High Court for Mr Ashley to repay more than 1 million dollars of client's money he held in trust at which he used for his own purposes.

The money used by Ashley belonged to a businessman from Maliata Province, Francis Sawane and his son, Mulaisufa Sawane.

Justice Edwin Goldsbrough made the order for Mr Ashley to repay approximately one million, one hundred and ten thousand dollars to Sawane, with interests and costs.

He also ordered the judgement be brought before the attention of the Chief Justice to refer Mr Ashley to a disciplinary Committee.

The panel of the disciplinary Committee will be headed by the Attorney General and should be held as soon as the Attorney General finalises preparations for it.
