The 2009 Pacific Mini Games has 3 more days to go as athletes from around the region compete in the Cook Islands.

Fiji is currently leading the medal tally with 22 gold, 13 silver and 15 bronze, a total of 50 medals.
Tahiti is second at 19 gold, 17 silver and 14 bronze medals, a total of 50 while New Caledonia sits at third place with 15 gold, 12 silver and 14 bronze, a total of 41 medals.
Host country, Cook Islands, sits at fourth place with 7 gold, 9 silver and 8 bronze, totaling 24 medals.

Solomon Islands is still at seventh place with 3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze, a total of 5 medals.

Meanwhile, according to Fiji Times Online, at the annual general meeting of Pacific Games Council in Rarotonga this week, it was decided that Papua New Guinea will host the 2015 Pacific Mini Games.
The other two candidates were Solomon Islands and Tonga.

However, New Caledonia is already underway with its preparations for the next Mini Games which it will be hosting in 2011.
