The Republic of Korea has donated over half a million dollars to assist in the rehabilitation process of Tsunami stricken areas of Western and Choiseul provinces.

The Republic of Korea has donated over half a million dollars to assist in the rehabilitation process of Tsunami stricken areas of Western and Choiseul provinces.

Korean Ambassador to Solomon Islands Sang Yun Park presented a cheque of more than half-a-million dollars to Foreign Affairs Minister Patterson Oti in Honiara today.

"We can feel the emptiness and sorrow of the victims, we can only hope that the help we give will assure them that we sincerely sympathies with them and hope for recovery" Mr Yun Park said "The Korean government would therefore like to contribute 70-thousand US dollars towards the relief effort"

In thanking the Korean Ambassador Foreign Affairs Minister Patterson Oti said that the government is most grateful that at a time when lives are lost and properties damaged the international community has responded with great gestures of goodwill.

"I assure the Ambassador that the government will provide a full audit report to donors and contributors towards the disaster after the rehabilitation process is completed" Mr Oti said.
