Paoa FM's General Manager and radio presenter, Joel Lamani, was amongst a number of Pacific radio journalists selected to participate in the prestigious Douglas Gabb Australia Pacific Radio Journalist Internship Program.

The Douglas Gabb Australia Pacific Radio Journalist Internship Program is a two week internship held annually in Australia and jointly offered by Radio Australia and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The internship aims to develop journalism and communication skills and encourage the broader awareness of technology and new media within a modern broadcasting environment.

Douglas Gabb was a senior broadcaster with Radio Australia for nearly 20 years and a well-known radio identity in Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. His popular program 'Mama Graon' on agriculture and the environment was widely listened to and contributed to the rural regional development in the Pidgin-speaking areas where it was broadcast.
