The Solomon Islands Acting Commissioner of the Royal Solomon Islands Police, Walter Kola, has confirmed that the dead body of the man discovered in the Mataniko river on Wednesday was a result of Homicide.

In a Press Conference yesterday, Mr Kola also urged the public to respect the family and relatives of the deceased by refraining from spreading rumors about the incident.

Investigation into the death is still ongoing by the Police. The medical authorities have already begun the post-mortem yesterday to determine the actual cause of death.

The deceased was confirmed to be from A'ama village near Malu'u, North Malaita.

Meanwhile, the police are also calling on more eye-witnesses to go forward to police and assist with the investigation.
