The University of the South Pacific (USP) will commence construction on an Information and Communications centre following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Fiji and Japan.

As reported by Fijilive, the signing took place yesterday and construction is 'to be funded by the Japanese Government at a cost of F$29 million' and 'expected to commence soon'.

'The project will involve the construction of three buildings with facilities consisting of computer laboratories, conference rooms and a multi-purpose lecture theatre with specialized equipments'.

This new development will help the region's 'participation in the global information society' as the University serves the 12 member countries in the region.
