Solomon Islands is a very unique country with huge tourism potential, according to an Australian living in Honiara.

Speaking at the tourism village on the show grounds, Geoff Allen, 47, of Australia who is married to a local said that living in the Solomons for three years and three months is enough for him to see how beautiful and unique the Solomons is from other countries.

Asked on how he came to be in the Solomons, Mr. Allen said that he first came into the country as a worker for the Patricks Logistics.

"Having been in the Solomons for this long, I believe that this country has a great future in tourism," he said.

"Solomon Islands is a unique country because it is only in the Solomons that you find rare species of fish, birds, diverse cultures, customs and the lifestyle here is very unique from other neighboring countries and the world as a whole," Mr. Allen said.

He added that there is a huge opportunity for tourism in the country that will help its economy.

"The government should put emphasis and priority in the country's tourism sector because the potential is huge in the Solomon Islands," Mr. Allen said.

Asked on how long he intends to be in the country, Mr. Allen said that it will be "for a very long time".
