Luapel escaped a determined Hammer Heads outfit to win 14-0 at the Panatina Oval on Saturday.

The last match proved to be a very entertaining game as league contenders Luapel overcame a determined Hammer Heads with two late tries. The first half was filled with strong defence from both teams resulting in a scoreless first half. Luapel's rehearsed running game tried to capitalize on Hammers' slow recovery rate from general play. But the Hammers were more organized in defense and slowed down any potential line breaks from Luapel.

Luapel broke the deadlock in the second half with a team effort to score a try after a mistake by the Hammers' in their twenty two to lead 7-0. The Hammers dominated the 3rd quarter and scored a try but was disallowed following the linesman's decision of a forward pass.

In the last quarter, Luapel finally picked up momentum. Luapel played advantage from a Hammers' dropped ball to score a try from a team effort edging their opponents 14-0. A frustrated Hammers' player was sent off towards the end of the game for illegal infringement.

In the other games, Airlines defeated Diesel Power 17-12, whilst Sosa lost to bottom league Green Beret. Sosa players thought their game was scheduled for 4pm and were unaware of the reschedule to 2pm. Most their starting 15 turned up to find the game already into the last quarter of the second half.
