A Honiara City Council delegation represented Solomon Islands at a forum in Fiji.

The two-men delegation, Honiara City Mayor, Alfred Maetia, and Honiara City Council Clerk, Joseph Huta, attended the Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF) Pacific Project for the Technical Advisory Panel (TAP).

Mr. Huta said the annual meeting brought together all the regional member countries to discuss issues affecting the region.

A change over of leadership was also elected during the meeting.

Mr. Huta handed over the Chairmanship of TAP to his successor from Samoa.

"The annual meeting reunion for all the CLGF Pacific Project members, which include donors and stakeholders, discussed what has been achieved over the past few years, and further assessed if the project has achieved its work plan which member countries of TAP agreed on in the last meeting," Mr. Huta said.

The CLGF Pacific Project also looked into identifying key challenges and problems faced during the implementation process, their causes and its solution, he added.

Mr. Huta said the meeting has achieved its purpose with the programme for next year already finalized for all regional countries.

"The Council has confidence in putting into action certain aims for next year," he added.

Mr. Huta said that this includes the Council fixing fitter roads, working more closely with communities, youth programmes and other projects early next year.
