The High Court has dismissed the appeal of the Russell Islands Plantation Estates Limited, RIPEL, against the Solomon Islands National Union of Workers, SINUW.

The appeal was against a Trade Disputes Panel decision recommending the re-instatement of various employees which RIPEL had dismissed. The Panel also recommended that the RIPEL Board terminate the employment of the company's General Manager, John Whiteside.

Secretary of SINUW Tony Kagovai told the media yesterday that with the termination of Mr Whiteside, the reopening of RIPEL in Yandina can begin in earnest.

The Defense Counsel, Myleen Bird said Mr Whiteside can appeal against the High Court's ruling at the Court of Appeal.
