The Solomon Islands Meteorological Service has issued a Heavy Rain Alert this morning which is in force for all Provinces in the country.
People residing in flood-risk areas have been advised to take precaution and observe disaster safety measures in wake of the current rainy weather.
The situation was caused by a depression which lies over the Solomon Islands and links to a low pressure system located to the southwest of Choiseul Island and slowly moving in a westerly direction.
Associated rain, which is predicted to be heavy at times, is expected to affect the Solomon Islands for the next 24 to 48 hours.
People should take precautionary measures as such localized Heavy Rain may lead to flash flooding or flooding to communities living close to rivers, streams and low lying areas.
The Met Office had advised people to listen to radio messages for updates throughout the day.
On April 3, flash floods have killed at least 22 people and damage properties in Honiara and the greater Guadalcanal.
The National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) and its humanitarian agency partners are currently providing humanitarian assistance to victims.
A repatriation process to help displaced people return to rebuild their homes and livelihoods is in progress.
The NDMO is working closely with school authorities and victims on a plan to repatriate victims to allow schools which are used as evacuation centers to resume classes.
