Hawaii has officially presented its bid to host the thirteenth Festival of Pacific Arts and await formal endorsement at yesterday's Cultural Ministers' Meeting in Honiara, Solomon Islands.

The twelfth Festival will be hosted by Guam in 2016.

Hawaii's Head of Delegation to this year's Festival, Mapuana de Silva made the country's expression of interest for the 2020 Festival at the twenty-fifth Council of Pacific Arts and Culture Meeting in Honiara today.

In her bid, Mrs de Silva told the Council that Hawaii believes hosting the thirteenth Festival of Pacific Arts in 2020 will help them to rebuild their nation.

The Hawaiian Head of Delegation also told the Council that Hawaii wants to host the thirteenth Festival because of fears their culture and tradition will be out sourced by technology beyond 2020.

The outcomes of today's Council of Pacific Arts and Culture Meeting will be formally endorsed by the Cultural Minister's Meeting today.
