Guadalcanal Premier Speaks Out Against Government

Guadalcanal Provincial Premier has made it clear that he does not support the national government's appointment of various people and the planned re-armament of certain police sections.

The Provincial Premier, Joash Salani, made his position known when responding to comments made by some Guadalcanal people who stated that his government supports Sogavare's government on those issues.

"On the issues of Moti, re-arming of the police and the issue of the Police Commissioner, we the executive of the Province and Guadalcanal Parliamentarians have made out stand clear."

"We have made our stand clear in a Memorandum of Understanding, which was submitted to the Prime Minister, that we do not support the national government on those issues."
