Guadalcanal Premier Ousted in No-Confidence Vote

The Premier of Guadalcanal, Hon. Joash Salani, was yesterday voted out of the Premiership by 12- 9.

Several allegations were raised against the former Premier, including mismanagement of public funds and neglecting the basic needs of the Guadalcanal people.

"People have been living with grudges and ill-feelings, because of his negligence of responsibility," says Hon. Stephen Panga, the mover of the motion.

Several members from the ousted government stated that the motion was a waste of time, and argued that so much has been done, refereeing to the Doma Township Project and the MV Solomone as examples of what the Salani government has done.

The nominations for new Premier will close 4 pm today with elections to be held Tuesday next week.
